Hydromulching is a sprayable mixture of water, fiber mulch and tackifier applied as temporary soil erosion prevention or to promote revegetation on damaged land. This mulching approach is usually reserved for hard to reach areas or steep slopes where other approaches are less effective. The mulch mixture is pumped from a tank affixed to a truck through a hose to a discharge nozzle, and aimed by one of our expert crewmembers to accurately place the mulch.
The most obvious benefit to hydromulching is an even application of mulch media on steep slopes or areas that are difficult to reach. This even application can be beneficial when combined with seeds to create even vegetation cover on damaged land. Additionally, this practice has shown to be an effective method for temporary erosion control, as it protects bare soil from wind and rain. Eventually, the mulch will decompose and become part of the soil, which, when combined with seeding, will add nutrients to the soil fostering healthy, strong vegetation that facilitates long-term erosion mitigation.
Arnold’s Custom Seeding offers hydromulching as part of its line of mulching services. We maintain a fleet of custom-designed equipment, capable of tackling any reclamation and restoration project you may have. No matter if it’s erosion control, mitigation or as an extension of revegetation efforts. We can combine our hydroseeding with our mulching service to add an extra layer of protection for your seeds and a nutrient-growth medium for speedy germination.
